about

Shame is an attempt to release the deeper seeded feelings that come from a life hiding away your true identity. Inspired by a women who covertly uses her sexuality to survive in a male-dominated consumer society, but hides it from her husband, this song is a letting go of that lie. There is a simple nod to the divine feminine in our nature, and a calling out of the judeo-christian archetypes that women have inherited which force Too many women hide their vibrance and sell themselves in some way, living a double standard out of fear and in some cases just to get by. I ask myself honestly where I have done this to myself and acknowledge what a waste it has been, giving myself permission to move forward with grace. I own the fact that I have played the game myself but no longer need to.

lyrics

Roses are where red velvet comes from
there's nothin wrong with that
Laughter is where pain is erased from
nothin wrong with that

Shame, shame, shame
I'll have to change my name
I'll have to run away
shame, shame, shame

40 days and 40 nights
you were the only one
sleeping beneath the sun
you waited until that feeling was gone
but your shame, it never left
I never could get free
oh what a waste of time

Oh, what a waste
Oh, what a waste
A waste of time...

I thought you'd know by now
I thought you knew my game
I can see you've been suffering too baby
I bet you feel the same

Shame, shame, Shame
I'd have to change my name
I'd have to run away
Shame, Shame Shame
